Be Patient To Play Better Golf

Okay so we have developed a habit for gripping a club firmly whilst leaving our forearms relaxed so now we have to learn perhaps the most important lesson. Patience is a virtue, it is also a commodity which seems to be in very short supply these days. Without it our golf game can become one of forced errors and very poor judgement Let us imagine a thirty foot putt with a slight borrow, if we are impatient because we duffed a chip onto the green we can easily attempt the putt, overdoing it and ending up thirty foot on the other side of the hole with a very missable return putt. Now if instead of attempting the putt we show a little patience we can just concentrate on putting up to the hole, say an eighteen inch radius and have a very makeable second putt. Okay so we might make bogey instead of par but we can make that back on the next hole or the one after. Through showing a bit of patience we have limited the damage. The same patience is required on the tee and the fairway. Attempt shots that you have a better than even chance of making, the woods are full of long hitters, so take a three wood off the tee and give yourself a better second shot. Try this out and see how it can help you. |
