How to get rid of flab is a common theme in women's and mens' magazines. It seems we are all looking for a way to lose belly flab. How to get rid of flab has many answers, from do more exercise to the often uttered "eat less!" Is it really as simple as that? No it is not. From the early caveman days diet was getting enough to eat and the days activities centred almost wholly upon that, if you didn't catch anything or pick what you needed then you didn't eat. From this daily grind man and woman developed a metabolism which could adjust itself to whatever food was available. If the daily hunt produced nothing edible then the caveman body would slow down to preserve the nutrients it had, in times of surplus it would lay down fat. Jumping into a strict diet today will elicit the same response from your body, if you starve yourself your body will go into hibernation mode, your metabolism will slow and consequently you will feel sluggish. This lethargy will further discourage you from operating properly and so you have less energy to exercise which in turn slows your metabolism.If your metabolism is slow you will gain weight even if you consume only moderate amounts of food. First task in any diet is eat breakfast! Do not be tempted to skip this, the most important of meals, your mamma was right! Breakfast will fire up the boiler in you allowing you to process food correctly and more efficiently, this will help to burn fat and not let it settle on your belly. To get rid of flab you need to avoid putting any more of it on then you have the chance to start reducing the belly fat. Once the boiler is fired up you have to keep it stoked and with the right fuel at the right time. It is eating the right foods that will help you reduce your waistline.
